Description
A quick and delicious shrimp dish featuring a perfect balance of sweet honey and savory garlic, coated in a sticky glaze and served in various ways for a versatile meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds large shrimp (26–30 per pound), peeled and deveined
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable or olive oil
Instructions
- Marinate the Shrimp: In a small bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Add half of this mixture to a shallow dish with the shrimp. Turn to coat the shrimp and let it marinate for 15 minutes. Set aside the remaining sauce.
- Sear the Shrimp: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Avoid overcrowding the pan for the best sear.
- Add the Sauce: Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet with the shrimp. Let it simmer for a few minutes until it thickens into a sticky glaze. Toss the shrimp to coat evenly.
